Salcombe is the most southerly seaside town in the South Hams area of Devon, and is one of the South West's favourite sailing centres. The town lies beside the Kingsbridge estuary, which provides a natural sheltered harbour.
The seaside town of Salcombe has everything; sheltered waterways, unspoilt beaches, tranquil countryside, coastal walks, watersports, interesting shops tucked up tiny streets and wide choice of shops, galleries, pubs, bistros and restaurants. Many restaurants use local produce when available, the locally caught fish and shellfish are a real gourmet delight. The town's main street (Fore Street) runs parallel to the waters edge, with interesting alleyways out up the steep hillside to the rest of Salcombe, or to small quays dotted along the estuary foreshore.
Salcombes climate is so mild that, in some gardens alongside the estuary, you'll actually see lemon trees bearing fruit.

Salcombe is surrounded by tranquil countryside with a magnificent scenic coastline.Travel the estuary by ferry, one of the nicest ways to get around. Take the Rivermaid to Kingsbridge and explore this pleasant market town. The East Portlemouth ferry plies across the estuary to the beautiful, sheltered beaches of Smalls Cove, Mill Bay and Sunny Cove. The third ferry takes you to South Sands where a variety of watersports can be enjoyed with North Sands just a short walk away. Take a walk along the dramatic cliff path to Gara Rock. Salcombe and its surrounding coastline is perfect for all kinds of watersports. Sailing and motor boats are available for hire.
Nearby are the high cliffs of Bolt Head. Visit the Overbecks Museum with its exotic coastal garden, rare plant species and spectacular views of the Mewstone and Salcombe Estuary.
